City of Dublin ETB Board
Establishment
Education and Training Boards are established under the Education and Training Boards Act 2013 (the Act). The Boards are formed every five years following local government elections.
Functions of the ETB Board
The functions of City of Dublin ETB are as set out in Section 10 of the Act and include:
- The establishment and maintenance of schools, centres for education and education and training facilities
- The planning, provision and co-ordination of education and training
- Supporting the provision, co-ordination, administration and assessment of youth work services
City of Dublin ETB is collectively responsible for approving the organisation’s activities. The Act specifies a range of functions as “reserved functions” which must be performed by resolution of the Board. In addition the Act specifies other functions to be performed by the Board including holding the Chief Executive to account for the effective performance of his or her functions in the management of the ETB, in accordance with the legislation, Department and SOLAS guidelines, the Strategy and Implementation Plan of the DES and the Service Plan.
